What hedging means
| Form | What it is | Our rule |
|---|---|---|
| Hedging between accounts | A long on one account and a short on another (your own, another firm’s, or another person’s), so one side is paid whatever happens | Not allowed |
| Group hedging | Several traders taking opposite sides of the same trade on their own accounts | Not allowed (group trading) |
| Double-sided bracket orders | A buy stop and a sell stop on the same symbol at the same time, to catch a spike either way | Not allowed |
The reason is the fee. An evaluation is priced on the assumption that a trader who loses pays the fee and a trader who wins is funded. Opposite positions on two accounts turn that into a coin with a paid side: one account passes for the price of the other’s fee. Every firm that sells evaluations treats it as a breach, and the rule usually reaches accounts at other firms too.
What copy trading means
| Form | What it is | Our rule |
|---|---|---|
| Copying your own account | A copier mirrors trades from your personal broker account into the prop account | Allowed |
| Copying another trader | Trades taken from a signal service, a Telegram channel, or another person’s account | Not allowed |
| Coordinated or group trading | Several people trading the same signals into their evaluations | Not allowed |
The evaluation is meant to assess how you trade. Copying your own account still shows that; copying someone else shows theirs. That is the whole distinction, and it is why a copier is fine while a signal is not.
Martingale and grid systems
| Form | What it is | Our rule |
|---|---|---|
| Martingale | Stepping up position size after a loss, so the next win recovers everything lost before it | Not allowed |
| Grid | A ladder of positions laid at set price intervals to harvest small fluctuations | Not allowed |
A martingale wins small and often and loses large and rarely. Each loss doubles the next position, so the risk grows faster than the account. On a short evaluation the large loss may simply not arrive, and a pass would then measure a run of luck rather than a strategy. A grid has the same shape: many small closes, then one move through the whole ladder.
Worked example · 1-Step $10,000, daily drawdown 2% ($200)
Loss 1: 0.10 lots × 20 pips = $20 · total $20
Loss 2: 0.20 lots × 20 pips = $40 · total $60
Loss 3: 0.40 lots × 20 pips = $80 · total $140
Loss 4: 0.80 lots × 20 pips = $160 · total $300 > $200
EURUSD at $10 a pip per lot. 4 losses in a row, each the same 20 pips, and loss 4 takes the account through its daily floor: the account fails at that moment. Doubling did not change how often the trades were wrong; it only decided how few losses the account could take.
