Minimum trading days: what counts as a day, firm by firm

The number is easy to read off a card. What counts as a day is not: a day with any trade, a day with a trade opened and closed, or a day with a profit above a threshold. The same three-day rule can take three days or three weeks depending on which one your firm means.

What the rule is

A minimum trading days rule says a stage cannot be passed until you have traded on at least N distinct days, whatever your balance does. It exists so a stage cannot be passed on a single trade. The target and the days are separate conditions: you can hit the target on day one and pass when the last required day is on record.

Formula

pass = target reached on balance AND trading days ≥ minimum

Three definitions of a trading day

DefinitionA day counts whenWhat it means for you
Trade openedAt least one trade is opened on that dayA position held over several days counts once, on the day it opened
Trade opened and closedA trade both opens and closes inside the daySwing positions add no days; only round trips do
Profitable dayThe day’s closed profit is above a threshold (often 0.5% of the balance)Losing and flat days add nothing; the rule becomes a second target

Days are counted between resets, in the firm’s own clock, so the reset time decides which day a trade belongs to. Weekend days count nowhere: the market is closed.

Our rule

The rule

3 trading days on every plan and every stage. A day counts when at least one trade is opened on it. Hit the target on day one and the pass confirms the moment your third trading day is on record. Weekend days add nothing. There is no profit threshold for a day to count.

Questions

What traders ask about minimum trading days.

A stage cannot be passed until you have traded on at least a set number of distinct days. Most two-step programs ask for 3 to 5; several one-step programs ask for none.

Depends on the definition. Where a day counts when a trade is opened (FundedTick), yes. Where a firm counts profitable days only, a losing day adds nothing.

No. Reach the target on balance at any point; the pass confirms when the last required day is on record, as long as the account has not breached a floor in between.

No, at any firm. The market is closed, so no trade can open on a Saturday or Sunday.
